(Kinda) Daily Good Music

Today's selection is "Pyschosocial" by Slipknot.

It's loud. It's aggressive. To the untrained ear, it sounds like just a bunch of noise.

But it's also an incredible display of virtuosity, orchestration, and just pure, unadulterated metal.

Slipknot embodies today's metal scene, a sect of rock music that is always larger and more musically impressive than most give it credit for. They have a distinct sound and image. They're live performances are something to behold. They're fan base is insanely loyal almost to the point of rejecting even the casual fan. The band is made up of 9 members, a rare feat in almost any musical genre but especially tough in heavy music. But Slipknot is able to succeed with many of it's members at the top of their respective games. Vocalist Corey Taylor, drummer Joey Jordison, and guitarists Jim Root and Mick Thomson are some of the best in their field. With the recent passing of founding member and bassist Paul Gray, the direction of the band is somewhat up in the air, but, rest assured, #s 0 through 8 will continue to melt faces. So crank it up and scare your parents.

Enjoy.

Holy Cow

India: Land of a billion people, smelly food, and ridiculous action sequences.

Seriously, this would make Michael Bay piss his pants.

Now would it be better or worse if I could understand anything that was being said?

(Kinda) Daily Good Music

Today's selection is "Get Like Me" by Childish Gambino.

I know there are other tracks out there titled "Get Like Me" by artists such as David Banner, but they are terrible.

Childish Gambino is the rap name of comedian Donald Glover. A member of the hilarious Derrick Comedy troupe. Glover is also well-known for his writing on NBC's 30 Rock and his acting as Troy Barnes on NBC's Community.

His music as Childish Gambino is both entertaining and mature. He has a sound and style that rivals those of top MCs even though this is a side-pursuit for the man.

I encourage you to look up more by Mr. Glover, whether it be music, television, or stand up comedy.

Enjoy.

Courage Wolf says, "GROW UP!"

And so begins the first of what will hopefully be a series of Courage Wolf postings.

To me, the concept of class is always something to keep in mind.  Too often, the general populace (myself included at times) acts irrationally and without thought or concern for others.  This is detrimental to not only those around you but also society as a whole.  Too often we bitch and moan about this and that and drag down the productivity and attitude of our Monkeysphere.

Class comes into play when faced with adversity.  Instead of being trapped in despair at every failure or gloating beyond comprehension at any success, the classy folk act like they've been there before and are gracious in both victory and defeat.  It allows us to move forward and progress.  It propels into the future with a sense of purpose.  Without class we are stuck sitting in our own filth as we hope for something to change.

Now I know this is an abstract ideal, so perhaps I should just hand it over to Courage Wolf and allow him to summarize:

Ah yes, well said, Courage Wolf.
